Why it ruled:

This once in a lifetime project came to Arcade the way all the best ones do, through a friend. With a reputation for leading successful expedition productions in some of the most remote stretches of the planet (Karakoram, Nepal, Andes, Indonesia, Northern India, the Guatemalan Highlands + Bangladesh to name a few) we were primed to hit the ground running… and what a sprint it was.

In what might be a pre-production record for the Arcade homies, we turned around a month-long expedition production with a completely self-supported crew and a group of ice core scientists at 6000 meters above sea level in the dead of winter (think -40, blowing wind, big storms..) drilling 327 meters deep into the ice in a matter of weeks.

Wild is an understatement, but when an opportunity to combine our honed experience in expedition filmmaking with a science and academic focus that will push the needle forward in key climate research knocks, you best believe we answer. And it wasn’t just us who showed up with bells on, the entire team was the kind of collaborative usually reserved for highly effective sports teams, allowing the good vibes to shine through the most challenging of environments, all in the name of science.

and also…

✚ The chance to work with the incredible and inspiring Alison Criscitiello

✚ Record setting and globally relevant ice core samples

✖ A case of key crew altitude sickness

Countless academic papers written about the results

✚ A feature film in the works

You do the math. Absolutely epic.
